Foot & ankle surgery
Surgical care for the foot and ankle
From minimally invasive bunion correction to ankle replacement and complex reconstruction. Each page explains who a procedure is for, how it works, and what recovery realistically looks like.
How we approach surgery. Surgery is recommended after an examination, appropriate imaging, and a discussion of nonsurgical alternatives. Not every patient is a candidate for every procedure, and no surgery can guarantee a particular outcome. Where it fits, surgery is performed at Gramercy Surgery Center or Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, depending on the procedure and surgeon. The practice is also affiliated with Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus, Hoboken University Medical Center, and Bayonne Medical Center in New Jersey.
- Minimally Invasive Bunion SurgeryMinimally invasive bunion surgery (MIS) corrects bunion alignment through incisions a few millimeters long, using specialized instruments and live X-ray guidance.
- Bunion ReconstructionBunion reconstruction realigns the bones of the big toe and first metatarsal to correct the deformity at its source.
- Hammertoe SurgeryHammertoe surgery straightens a toe that has become bent and painful.
- Plantar Plate RepairPlantar plate repair restores the ligament under the base of a toe — usually the second — when a tear causes ball-of-foot pain and a drifting or lifting toe..
- First MTP Joint FusionFirst metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint fusion joins the two bones of the big toe joint so they heal as one.
- Ankle ArthroscopyAnkle arthroscopy lets the surgeon see and treat problems inside the ankle joint through small incisions using a camera and fine instruments..
- Ankle Ligament ReconstructionAnkle ligament reconstruction restores stability to an ankle that repeatedly gives way after sprains.
- Tendon SurgeryTendons around the ankle stabilize and move the foot.
- Achilles Tendon SurgeryAchilles tendon surgery covers repair of acute ruptures and reconstruction of chronically damaged tendons, including insertional disease at the heel..
- Fracture RepairFracture surgery restores alignment and stability to broken bones so they can heal in the correct position, reducing the risk of arthritis and long-term problems..
- Foot & Ankle ReconstructionReconstructive foot and ankle surgery corrects complex deformities — collapsed arches, high arches, arthritic joints, and Charcot foot — to restore a stable, comfortable, shoeable foot..
- Total Ankle ReplacementTotal ankle replacement (ankle arthroplasty) replaces the worn surfaces of the ankle joint with metal and plastic components.
- Revision SurgeryRevision surgery addresses problems after previous foot or ankle surgery — a recurrent bunion, a bone that did not heal, persistent pain, or a correction that did not hold.
