Dr. Mark Mendeszoon
DPM, FACFAS, FACPM
Dr. Mendeszoon is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon who treats adults and children. His work centers on sports medicine, trauma, total ankle replacement, and complex reconstructive surgery, built on more than three decades of practice.
About Dr. Mark Mendeszoon
Dr. Mendeszoon graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his podiatric surgical residency at New England Deaconess Hospital and the Joslin Diabetes Center, Harvard Medical School affiliates. He then completed a two-year foot and ankle orthopedic surgery fellowship with Precision Orthopaedic Specialties in Northeast Ohio.
He served as Chief of Podiatry at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Northeast Ohio for more than 20 years and is a former president of the Great Lakes Region of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. As a fellowship director, he has trained reconstructive foot and ankle surgeons.
He has served as a team physician and consultant for high school and collegiate programs and at four Olympic Summer Games (London 2012, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024). He has published in The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery, Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, and JAPMA, and has served as a principal investigator for orthopedic device trials.
Before medicine he studied zoology at Miami University and earned a master's degree in human movement from Stony Brook University. For more than 20 years he also owned a specialty running store — experience that informs his attention to footwear, gait, and biomechanics.
